MINUTES OF SELECTMEN MEETING – August 26, 2013 5:00 PM

Due to scheduling Valerie Nickerson-Bird requested the Board of Selectmen to appoint an assistant to the Board of Health Agent for the purpose of witnessing perc tests. Valerie will be willing to train someone if necessary. The property owner is responsible for the cost of the witness. The Board of Selectmen and Valerie will both look for an assistant.
Michael Sullivan, Fire Chief informed the board of a Fire Academy, (Fire Curriculum)
October 5th, 19th and 26th
Krik Kaiser of Century 21 and Whitney Bonadies offered the Selectmen the opportunity to purchase the Bonadies property. 182 acres in total with an approximate assessed value of $920,000. Whitney is willing to discuss an offer. The board voiced the process and told Erik and Whitney that it could take a couple of months. The Selectmen will review the property and discuss further to make a decision on whether to bring it to a town meeting.
Eric asked Ed the status of the new officer’s. Ed was informed that the new officer’s are required to attend a pistol course consisting of 20 hours.
The purchase of the new grader is in the bidding stages.
Fiscal 2014 Chapter 90 monies will be held to be used with Fiscal 2015 monies with the intent to complete a larger project.
Gloria Gery will be review the current Tolland Employee Personnel Policy.
Eric made a motion to pay a $900 stipend to Jessica Kelmelis for IT services. Tom Seconded and board agreed unanimously. The stipend will be for a six month period starting September 1 and will be addressed again after that period of time. The monies will be paid out of the Tech. line item of the budget.
